What’s the Youth In Action program ?
This is the program the European Union has set up for the youth to try to make them feel european citizens, but also to promote the idea of an active citizenship, the idea of solidarity, tolerance ... It exists also to help people go abroad and to discover other cultures, inside and outside of the EU borders.
The Youth in Action program also promotes the non-formal education, meaning that we are able to learn in our daily life, at every stage of our lives and not only at school. You don’t need good grades, you don’t need particular skills or anything to be a part of this program : the only condition is to be between 13 and 30 years old, and to be legally live in a country of the program or in a country which is a partner of EU.
There are 5 differents projects in this Youth in Action program :
- Youth for Europe :
- Youth exchange : the opportunity for youth from different countries to meet and to share their cultures with each other in order to get to know different point of views. The youth exchange is set up around a common theme : art and culture, fight against racism and discrimination, tolerance, youth unemployment, etc.
- Youth initiative : either national or transnational, the youth initiative support projects in which the youngster participate at activities they have build on their own. With this youth initiative, you can improve your creativity, entrepenorship and your leadership. If you have an idea, then this action is here to help you make it real.
- Youth project for democraty : this project is to improve the youth participation to the local political life but also to implicate themselves at an international level.
- European Voluntary Service : short or long term, individual or group volunteering : you will be working for an association in different fields (environment, arts and culture, activity with kids, young or old person, Sports or even civil protection), in exchange of a housing, food and pocket money.
- Youth in the world : cooperation with neighbors of EU.
- System of support to the youth
- Support to the european cooperation in the field of the youth.
The YouTHrough the Lens project is part of the first action : youth for Europe. It is a transnational youth initiative, lead by french and turkish youth. We are not an association, but as they call, an informal group of young people. For that, you have to fill a form which seems complicated at first sight but which is not that much finally. In that, you have to build your project from the beginning to the end. Because it was a transnational initiative we also had to find partners in Turkey to carry the project with us. For that, we had been asking to our different contacts that we made during our EVS. Then, you have to define what you really want to do, and explain how you will get there. You also have to make a budget for your project with all the expanses you will face.
If you want to apply for it, there is two deadlines to present your form at your national agency : 1st of february and 1st of may.
